Our Journalism BA and MA programmes are accredited by BJTC. In its recent accreditation report it made the following comments:

“The teaching team at UWE is passionate about journalism and the very best story-telling. It has meticulously developed its BA (Hons) Journalism to provide students with a comprehensive set of skills across a range of platforms and to develop practical and critical approaches to research and reporting.

The course is taught by industry professionals and academics with a background in industry. It is a practice-orientated degree underpinned by academic context, critical analysis and professional experience. The aim is to inspire and develop multimedia practitioners capable of operating productively in the industry of their choice.

The course has a strong focus on journalism’s place within society and an understanding about its history and ethics, the role of civic institutions, economic context, social importance and the reach and impact of new technologies. Students are equipped with a critical perspective to set the rapidly changing nature of journalism within a regional, national and global context.”
